The team developed and implemented a novel digital diagnostic system at a rural clinic in Kenya, a country where cervical cancer is the leading cause of female cancer-related deaths. From 2010 onwards, FIMM researchers … In the study published in Scientific Reports on Feb 17, a team led by Professor Johan Lundin aimed to push the capabilities of these approaches even further. The researchers focused on developing a tool that could detect tumour morphological features typical for ERBB2-positive breast cancer.

This year, prototypes of the mobile microscopes will be tested in field trials in Tanzania and Kenya.
